OUR PROGRAM

PLAYTIME/LEARNING/FUN

In todays day and age with technology taking over, there has been a bigger movement towards more education and skill training in early childhood programs. However, studies are coming to find that children are engaging less and less in playtime impairing their physical, mental and social development. Children need plenty of time to play and explore their world, this is a huge key element to their learning and understanding of the world. Children develop emotionally, cognitively, socially and physically through play. Here at Little Monkeys, I provide a balance of both structured play and free play. When children are engaged and having fun, they are open to new ideas and thoughts. They learn how to problem solve, negotiate, take turns, play with others, and develop gross and fine motor skills. During structured play there is primarily one activity or group of toys for the child to focus and concentrate all of their attention on. Activities are age appropriate and scheduled with flexibility to allow for individual response. The following activities that the children and I engage in, include, but are not limited to the following.

Indoor Activities:

Circle time, play food and cooking, books and story time, play dough, puppet shows, dolls, various learning toys, cars/trucks, blocks, puzzles, Simon-says, dancing, balls, various games, sing along books, musical instruments/music time, flash cards, painting, singing, exercise/tumbling, follow the leader, arts and crafts, bean bag toss, legos, science/science experiments and coloring.

Outdoor Activities:

Follow the leader, running, jumping, balls, sliding, climbing, water fun, parachute, bubbles, catch, neighborhood walks, exploring nature/weather, tunnels, ride on toys, helping in the garden, digging in the sandbox for hidden treasures or fossils/dinosaurs, obstacle courses/ water obstacle courses for warm weather. Weather permitting, we play outdoors to get fresh air daily.

Seasonal/Periodic Activities:

The last Friday of every month we have a pizza party, we dress up for Halloween, exchange valentines day cards, we celebrate the children's birthdays, we have a summer camp out day, Santa Clause (my husband) makes a yearly visit, occasionally a local Dentist will visit to demonstate the importance of oral hygiene and a yearly visit from a firefighter to demonstate fire safely and to review our yearly fire drill.

Older Toddler/Preschooler/Kinder

For Children 2.5-5 years:

Are in a stimulating environment that is spacious and entertaining, giving your child an exciting world with opportunities to grow, explore, create and learn. Little Sprouts offers an exciting place to learn and laugh with a caring atmosphere, a reassuring routine and creative activities that provide toddlers and preschoolers with a sense of security; where they are happy and safe to begin building confidence and positive self-image.
A toddler's growth and development is limitless. Their bodies and minds are sponges, soaking up every word and action presented to them. My interactions with them are always on their level, I listen to every word and encourage meaningful conversation with myself and their peers. Every child is like a fingerprint, different, unique and special. Therefore I strive to meet the developmental needs of each child in my care with a nurturing foundation for development, responsive interactions and positive reinforcement to ensure your child reaches their full potential. Preschoolers are inquisitive and very curious by nature. With lots of questions and the desire for even more answers, I not only give them the answers they seek but also ask when, why, where and how by encouraging conversations, fostering an imaginative and free-thinking child.
Children ages two through five are offered a structured preschool program provided to us by Mother Goose Time. Mother Goose is a professionally planned preschool curriculum that's designed to be used in preschool centers. I supplement this curriculum with tons of enriching activities. These activities range from storytelling, exercises, science, shapes, colors, science experiments, numbers, songs, games, arts and craft projects, puppet shows, alphabet and much more with varies monthly themes.
